Kohlen Quelle i.e. Koppe is a cafe set up by young people in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. During the GDR the location was a coal shop. Franziska Milata and Juhani Seppovaara’s film shows how Koppe came to be and documents one summery day, from dawn till early the next morning. We also have the story of a 90-year-old woman and the neighborhood’s different stages during her lifetime, from war to the present. The film also shows the typical Berlin lifestyle—and exuberance.
