Tuusulanjärven taiteilijaelämää / The Artistic Life of Tuusulanjärvi, 2005

The Tuusulanjärvi artistic community gave birth to the masterpieces of Finland´s golden age and to many stories – a whole legend.

When Jean Sibelius, Pekka Halonen, Eero Järnefelt and Juhani Aho brought their families to this old cultural region they created a new way of life. They discovered how to combine the proximity of nature with an urban culture, ethnicity with internationalism.
Aleksis Kivi and Eino Leino have also lived in the same area and one can see how Russia´s decadent past went into decline and decay, how the Finnish woman´s role in the war came about and was then ignored for decades. The faces of Tuusulanjärvi change dramatically just as the shifts of fortunes and history.
