During class we learned to read, write and do maths. Our grammar book pages reflected the wholesome life of the countryside, where the city´s rumble could not reach. The surrounding areas and nature´s phenomena were explored on school trips. Having certain skills was a point of honour. We were disciplined and lived in the fear of God.
Through words and photographs this book tells about the world of the old grammar schools. The book´s pages build a bridge to a time past, which is still present today. The grammar school lives on in memories and in our worldview, from a culture passed on from one generation to the next.
